Deadline past. The call for entries ended on May 19th.
Get Your Artwork published in American Artist!
Enter your two-dimensional drawings, paintings, or prints in a contest aimed at
exploring creative approaches to this traditional theme. Entries can range from the photographically
realistic to the interpretive, and they can be created with any medium or combination of media. The
artist must certify
that the image represents his or her appearance, personality, and/or spirit. Work will be judged both
on the
quality and originality of the images, as well as on a brief written explanation provided by the artist.
How Artwork Will Be Selected
The editors of the magazines will select the winning entries. All subjects will be considered, whether portrait, landscape, seascape, or still life. Drawing and painting media appropriate
for the content of the publications and website will be selected. Cover lines, UPC codes, and image captions will be superimposed over the selected artworks.
Prizes
If you are chosen, your artwork will be reproduced in the print edition of American Artist, on the
magazine's website, and in one of the magazine's e-newsletters.
More than $6,000 in prizes will be awarded
- The First Place winner will receive $2,500 in art materials from Blick Art Materials, Creative Catalyst Productions, Hartford Fine Art &
Framing, and Legion Paper--plus $500 cash.
- The Second Place winner will receive $1,750 in art materials plus $250 in cash.
- The Third Place winner will receive $1,000 worth of art materials from our sponsors.
